Today Mats and is family visited us here in Saint Lucie West and lots of memories was flying thru my head.
Really fun to see him after many years away from Sweden.
Mats dad Leif hired me as a little boy to promote his new little “Tollare Jollen” with a 10 hp outboard.
He asked me to drive around at the local marinas so people could see his new little row boat with “Tollare Jollen” written on the side..
Well..Leif got phone calls and complains from the marinas about this young boy driving his little boat way to fast..!! I was not fired but was told to slow down..
Mats was working for his dad building production Tollare Boats and later started to race Offshore in Sweden.
1996 Mats drove his own design X-36 Tollare Racing/Merc 2.5 liter to the overall victory in famous Roslagloppet.

My Australian friend Conn Saloumidis is testing his race boat today.

New Evinrude 300 G2 engines instead of G1.

We all are waiting for the result.

Modified stock G2 gear cases.

Erik Edin of Sweden drove his #21 “Big Mac” to victory in the Norwegian F2 World Championship race today.
Congratulations Erik and the McDonald’s team

I first met Erik at a SE Class race 1971. He was racing a Schulze Hydro Cat powered with a Carniti 65. (Third Picture)
Erik was extremely fast and left us other racers in his “rooster tail”.
A few years later we got better racing equipment and could compete with Erik.

In 1978 we raced together in the Nordic OE class race in Skokloster, Sweden.
Erik was involved in a crash and hurt himself pretty bad.
I think that was the end of Eriks boat racing as a driver but now his son Tom-Erik took over the driving. Erik was the perfect crew chief. The father and son won many races together in the OE/F-3 class.
I invited Erik to my birthday party in Stockholm 2003 and he came.
That was very nice of him. (First Picture)

Now Erik is gone and friends and family is missing him very much
