Erik Braaten of Norway have left us.

I first met Erik at a SE Class race 1971. He was racing a Schulze Hydro Cat powered with a Carniti 65. (Third Picture)
Erik was extremely fast and left us other racers in his “rooster tail”.
A few years later we got better racing equipment and could compete with Erik.

In 1978 we raced together in the Nordic OE class race in Skokloster, Sweden.
Erik was involved in a crash and hurt himself pretty bad.
I think that was the end of Eriks boat racing as a driver but now his son Tom-Erik took over the driving. Erik was the perfect crew chief. The father and son won many races together in the OE/F-3 class.
I invited Erik to my birthday party in Stockholm 2003 and he came.
That was very nice of him. (First Picture)

Now Erik is gone and friends and family is missing him very much

Nya läckra Nor-Tech båtar med Mercury Verado four stroke kommer till Sverige.

En mycket annorlunda och intressant Skandinavisk marin nyhet.
 
Ingarö Varv AB på Ingarö utanför Stockholm har i dagarna gjort ett avtal med Nor-Tech i Fort Myers, Florida
Ingarö Varv AB är numera Generalagent för Nor-Tech Boats i Sverige, Finland och Danmark.
 Fem Nor-Tech CC båtar från 34 ft upp till 45 ft är beställda varav en 34 ft redan är såld.
 Ingarö Varv AB kommer att ställa ut bl.a en Nor-Tech 45 riggad med fem Merc Racing 400R Verado four stroke på Båtmässan “Allt för sjön”  2017.
 Nor-Tech fabriken i Fort Myers, Florida  har orderböckerna fulla och det är rätt lång väntetid på den nya 45 fotaren som bilderna visar.
Kommer utrustad med en ny design av stor hard top som inte är helt klar ännu.
 Tester gjordes på fabriken nyligen och alla inblandade var mycket nöjda.

The boat racing world have lost a great friend and supporter.

Known as “Rulle” Christer Rudolph left us a few days ago.
Rulle decorated race boats and was helping Swedish racers at race tracks around the world for many years.
Rulle helped me with all my race boats and race trucks. Designed decals and much more.
The picture show Rulle as the flag man at the Stockholm F1-V8 GP 1983.
The second picture is from a race somewhere in Europe in the seventies.

In my opinion the famous Paris 6 Hour race died already 1981.

The reason was no more OZ class 1981 and no more factory OMC racing.
Ken Stevenson/Bob Spalding won the 1980 Paris 6 Hour race driving the #12 OZ class Velden/Carlsberg/Johnson RS V6 3 liter looper.

OMC came out with the new V8 for the OZ class 1981 and Mercury pulled out of the OZ class.
The Paris 6 hour race organization made the decision to ban the OZ class ..(over 2 liter) with help from Mercury.
Only ON max 2 liter was now allowed in the 1981 Paris race.
Reality was that the OMC factory could not compete with the powerful 3.5 liter V8 in the race for the overall win and pulled out.
Last year for a factory feud between OMC and Merc was 1980
1984 OMC and a French boat race organization came together to run a race for the OZ F1-V8 class in Paris. This time with the pit in the famous Bois de Boulogne . Still racing on river Seine but far away from the famous Eiffel tower
I raced there with my #8 Burgess/Aspen/Evinrude V8 but not a great place.
Without a factory feud between OMC and Merc the famous Paris 6 hour race was no more
I know some people having a different opinion but I think this story is 100% right.

The last Paris 6 Hour race was run 1988..with very few..(if any) famous drivers and no factory teams.

The 1981 Race program/entry-list show few 2 liter ON class entry’s and most of the famous boat racers names are missing.
