I finally found the pictures of Renato Molinari’s big crash during the UIM OZ class World Championship race in Chasewater, UK 1978.

Renato drove his #20 Molinari/Saffa with the brand new Evinrude V6 CCC 3 liter looper with fuel injection. His brakes failed when he was leading the race..Renato was lucky and “walked away” from this unhurt..

Team Sweden – Jonas Andersson 2021 UIM F1 World Champion

Well..it took Jonas 15 years to show the world he and his team are the very best.

Winning the two races in Portugal and the World Title today. Jonas is the boat builder, engine builder, team owner & driver.

A very unique combination in today’s racing. He showed the world..”old school racing” still works.

Congratulations to Team Sweden.

Some pictures from Wilfried Weiland.

Thank you.

UIM F1 World Champ Jonas Andersson got a warm “Welcome Home” in his little home town Frövi, Sweden.

Holme Pierrepont rowing lake outside Nottingham was the perfect place for tunnel boat racing.
1981 was my second year racing there in the UIM OE/F3 class and it was a major racing war with UK’s great John Hill.
This is the start in one of four heats over the weekend.
#52 John Hill in his Burgess/Evinrude is already on the way..in this starting picture
I guess my #1 red Burgess/AKAI/Evinrude was a bit slow to get going but very fast at the end of the very long straight aways.
After two days of racing..(four heats) the Viking was on top after swimming in one heat.
Great memories and I am not sure who should get the picture credit.
Thanks
