Britain’s Malcolm Goodman Ready For A New UIM F1 Challenge

Published by:

ABU DHABI – Thursday, 15 November: Britain’s Malcolm Goodman has confirmed his participation in the remaining two races of the F1H2O World Championship in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

Goodman has been competing in the UIM World F2 championship this year and won the British RYA National F2 title. “The last few weeks have been difficult as my sponsor Jason Brewer of JPL Racing and Jon Jones of Dragon F1 Powerboats have been deep in negotiations,” said Goodman. “I have managed to test the boat but the whole project was veiled in secrecy. It’s a relief to be finally able to talk about my return to F1”.

The man behind Dragon Powerboats is its founder Jonathan Jones a former four times winner of the World Championship and is no stranger to winning or knowing what it takes to succeed in a tough environment such as the F1H2O World Championship. He has been assisted in the development of the latest F1 boat by David Burgess whose boats have won 47 World Championships in all classes.

The new F1 Dragon Powerboat will encompass 40 years of Jonathan’s experience and knowledge of powerboat racing and the recent test session proved the new design boat was certainly not lacking in speed.

JPL Team owner Jason Brewer commented, “This is a new boat that is untested competing against those who have been racing all season so we are understandably cautious in our expectations of the results. However we are sure of one thing, Malcolm is determined to achieve the best possible result from the final two Grand Prix of the season”

Malcolm is not a total newcomer to F1 as he proved admirably when he stepped into the cockpit of Andy Elliott’s boat for three Grand Prix in 2009.

The Race of Champions at the Miami Marine Stadium 1975 by Bill Muncey

My dream to be part of the  Race of Champions at the MIAMI MARINE STADIUM

When I was back in Sweden late August 1975 after the big race in Italy I received a letter from USA.
I could not wait to open it, and it was from Bill Muncey and an entry form for the Race of Champions
at the Miami Marine Stadium.

If I remember right there was 15 SE Cats rigged with Evinrude  75 hp engines.
The Billy Seebold built boats was prepared the same way and the plan was to find the best driver in the world.

This was it for me, my big dream to travel to the United States and Race..!!

I filled out the entry form with my racing resume and photos.

I was 100% sure to be part of this dream race but after a few weeks I received a new letter from
Bill Muncey´s race of Champions, with disastrous news.

I did not qualify, you had to be a World Champ and there was no World Championship race in the
UIM – SE class back then.
I was now 3 times European/Continental Champion, but not good enough.

I asked Evinrude in Sweden and OMC to help me and they tried, but the answer was still no.

At that time I felt like the whole world was coming to an end, but life went on…………..

..and the Race…without me..!!

There must be a way for me to make $10,000.00 in boat racing..Well..it happen a year later..!!

15 race boats rigged exactly the same way.

15 stock Evinrude 75.

Time to start the big race.

Completed – 2nd Generation Caudwell Boat Ready For Abu Dhabi!

Published by:

ABU DHABI – Monday, November 19, 2012 – The long awaited and anxiously anticipated newest Grand Prix boat on the UIM F1 H2O World Championship tour is being flown from Cape Town, South Africa to Abu Dhabi, UAE in time for the 21st Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi set for the 29th and 30th of November.

The second generation of the Caudwell Racing race craft is expected to be not only lighter but also a lot quicker as Team Manager Kevin Delaney and the Caudwell Marine crew sets their sights on earning it’s first ever world championship points on the new race course along the corniche waterfront in spectacular Abu Dhabi.

“We have dedicated ourselves to unveil a boat that not only fits the part but truly performs as a true F1 boat and I truly believe this new third generation design does just that,” said Kevin.

“Our team reached a milestone in China when it became the first ever four-stroke engine to go the full distance and complete a Grand Prix in the four decade history of the UIM F1 H2O series.

Our talented duo of drivers drivers Ivan Brigada and Brett Stuart finished 11th and 12th just missing out on the points table. This time around with this new boat, we feel we have a real shot to set a new standard for this engine technology along with this new boat. We think we can now get our drivers to become competitive for solid results before the finish of the 2012 campaign in Sharjah on the seventh of December.”

The final two rounds in the championship in the United Arab Emirates are always something special. Once again this season a full field of drivers with a mixture of new and returning pilots will make for a big final season spectacular performance leading to the closing awards ceremony on the night of the seventh in spectacular city of Sharjah just outside of Dubai.

Italian defending World Champion Alex Carella of the Qatar Team leads the drivers table with 59 points, nine ahead of the unfortunate Ahmed Al Hameli of Team Abu Dhabi whose illness will keep him out of the final two rounds while sitting second with 50 points.

Philippe Chiappe of the CTIC China Team is third with 48 points. The Frenchman knows he has to win for a real possibility at the title.

Double World Champion, Sami Selio of Finland and the Mad Croc Team still has a shot with 41 points with 40 total points still up for grabs before the final checked flag falls in Sharjah.

As the Caudwell Marine racing organization heads north enjoying their spring season, Chief Executive Officer Mike Beachy Head will personally be on hand to watch his newest creation be placed in the water with hopes of making their revolutionary concept of engine design combined with the new boat a wave of the future for the most competitive racing circuit on the planet the UIM F1 H2O World Championship for powerboat racing.

The 21st edition of the Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi can be followed live both for qualifying on the 29th of November and the Grand Prix race on the 30th by going to the tours official website joining the World Television feed at www.f1h2o.com.
