Hans Strandmans Johnson Stinger GP was the right engine at the right time..
Per Welin the CEO for AGB..the Swedish distributor for Johnson outboards ordered the latest strongest ON V-4 race engine OMC used before going V-6.
The Offshore role said you must have reverse so a gear case from the X-115 (see picture) replaced the gear case with out shifting.
A shift level on the midsection was installed.
Back then this was absolutely legal in the 2 liter N class..The engine was homologated..so was the X-115 gear case on separate papers..so you have to use two homologation’s..
(There was more engines like this in Sweden..Per Benson, Torbjorn Arve and a few more drivers use the Evinrude Super Strangler.)
Strandman installed his new powerful Johnson Stinger GP with the enormous sound on a brand new special built ARGO boat..
This fast rig took Hans Strandman to the overall victory in the very famous Offshore race “Roslagsloppet” 1975 and 1976.
In the Powerboat & Waterskiing report you can read about another Swede in a very fast Piraya..
..that story later..
